Despite a short discussion of Rich’s paranoia in the opening of the show, we mostly play it straight and stick to the security news. We found a few interesting stories this week, and the major theme seems to be “stupidity”. On one side is a prison that let an inmate reprogram their computer system, on the other a money-mule for scams that thought sending money-grams to foreign countries was a legitimate “work at home” job.
Sigh.

- Inmate locks staff out of prison computers. Multiple levels of hilarity ensue.

- A money-mule’s story. Fascinating level of naivete.

Hi Martin,
after listening to the latest podcast I had to come here and have a look at what music you played. Because I couldn’t remember the URL I randomly tried securitypodcast.com and thought I hit the right page. After a closer look I figured that this page probably doesn’t have anything to do with you guys though. Is this an abandoned page or some sort of fraudulent attempt at something unsavory?
Cheers,
Matthias

Matthias,
It’s not us, but it’s not really abandoned either. We’d contacted the owner of the domain name several months ago about the URL and if he wanted to sell it. He set that up as a demo of what his company could do. The talks never went much farther than that.
